Our Journey With Young Living Essential Oils

everyday oils 4

After hearing about oils from seemingly dozens of places, and being invited to multiple classes, I finally attended a class taught by my friend Tricia in February 2013.  I was truly fascinated by everything she taught, and I really wanted to know more about how they worked (one of my strengths is “Learner” after all!)  After discussing with my husband and reviewing our budget (I’m also a Dave Ramsey girl!) we ordered our premium starter kit.

Once it arrived I was super excited – and super intimidated.  I knew these oils were awesome, but I had no clue what to really do with them! I dabbled with them here and there, but to be honest it took me about three months to really start using them.  Gradually, I started to reach for an oil first, before an OTC med.  Usually, it was something easy like a headache (peppermint on my temples, instead of a Tylenol) or Panaway on an aching muscle.  I started trying them out on the kids.  A drop of Peace & Calming massaged in on a forehead when temper tantrums started. A drop of Frankincense on the crown of my daughter when she was super moody.  Lavender mixed with water in a spray bottle – man did we get a ton of uses out of that one alone.  My son called it his “special spray” and insisted on 5 sprays on his pillow every night before bedtime.  My husband spent too much time in the sun one day,  and the next day used the spray to cool and heal his burned skin.

We didn’t have any “major” testimonials until we drove to Denver the summer of 2013.  I had discovered the wonderful benefits of Di-Gize and was never, ever without it.  For me, Di-Gize helped mitigate any discomfort I felt if I accidentally got any corn or wheat cross-contamination.  Traveling always magnifies the chances of cross-contamination 100-fold, so I literally carried it with me at all times. It saved me many times while we were on our trip – but the major testimony came from the trip home.

It was the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, in Texas.  Truly, there were no cities near us for at least 2 hours, only small towns that even in the light of day didn’t have many resources.  Around 3am, Z woke up crying and screaming and clutching his stomach – something he’d never done before. I immediately grabbed my oils and rubbed Di-Gize and Peppermint on his little tummy, and massaged it for about 5 minutes until he went back to sleep. I prayed for the effectiveness of the oils the whole time.  I was so pleased to see him fall asleep within 5 minutes!! Forty-five minutes later, he woke up and did the same thing. Of course I was worried, but I applied the oils again and prayed again. Same thing – asleep within 5 minutes.  By this time we had deduced that Z must have gotten some cross-contamination from fries he’d had the day before.  We went through two more cycles of  screaming, oiling, and falling back asleep.  At this point….we were still in the middle of nowhere in the dead of night.  I was SOOOO thankful over and over again for God’s healing oils.  I truly have no idea what else we would have done in that situation!! There was literally NO WHERE to stop. No 24-hr pharmacy stores to get  OTC’s.  No CareNows to stop at.  Nothing.  I am still thankful to this day that we had the oils to heal Z’s tummy and allow him to sleep and us to have peace of mind that he was ok.  That experience really solidified for me that oils were our first line of defense!!

Now it’s over a year later, and we use oils for everything.  Anytime an issue arises, my first thought is, “what oil can I use for that?”  And we’ve seen success after success.  Does it mean we’ll never use medicine again? No! Does it mean we’ll never go to a doctor again? Of course not!! Medicine and doctors *definitely* have a time and a place and we are so thankful they are there and available when we need them.  Young Living Essential Oils are just the first thing we reach for – and they have saved us plenty of time and money in unnecessary medicines and doctor visits.
